Who We are.

The Southwest Florida Astronomical Society was formed in 1980 by amateur astronomers in Lee County, Florida.  Its many goals include educating the public, schoolchildren, and scouts about the wonders of the night sky.  S.W.F.A.S. regularly works with the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium,  as well as Florida Gulf Coast University with public observing events.
